CIO Perspectives

Digital Disruptions not only threaten the very core of an organization’s business but also present an opportunity to innovate and excel. How are you responding to the new changes and applying digital transformation strategy in your organization?

The huge technological advancements have been impacting on retail business since a long time. The recent trend of digital transformation is opening new gateways to reach more people. Turtle has also taken part into this globalization process and currently in online business, reaching people through our own online store (turtleonline.in) and also available on online retail giants like Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, Jabong etc.

Digitalization to us, as for most of the industries has added another revenue stream and dimension to our business rather than threatening the core business itself. There are a lot of buzzwords such as “Omnichannel” , “Cloud Computing”, “Big Data Analytics” etc and most brands are talking about it. But one should not get carried away and think hard on what is relevant for his own business objectives and apply and invest in only those projects. We are exploring opportunities such as Omni Channel, consolidated order management, vendor management on the digital front and working on projects such as digital catalogue and moving our stores on the cloud for faster response times and making our business much more scalable across the country and much more swift and dynamic.

What is your IT strategy for driving business agility and scale?

Retail industry continues transformation enabled by technological advancements. Today Information Technology is a major optimizer in any Retail business. In Turtle we focus mainly on advanced automation in supply-chain management and maintaining highly scaled inventory at any instance, for procurement also we are aggressively working on automation against demand analysis. Secondly on technical part where data management becomes a major concern, several technical cost optimizations are also a part of IT planning ultimately reducing the business overheads.
